What is a Model Portfolio
A model portfolio is essential for you or your agency to show potential clients who you are. Having a professional portfolio is important to showing your best to the industry, and acts as a business card to sell yourself.
Your serious start in professional modelling begins with a portfolio that shows of who you and what you can achieve. Your portfolio will have full and 3/4 shots along with a headshot. The more looks that you have allows you to have a different shot for each potential client, and at times it may be necessary to shoot a portfolio specific to a client or niche in the fashion industry. The more looks you have the better, and your portfolio will grow with each session. Think of a model portfolio as an investment into your career as a model.
What types of Portfolio shoots do you offer
I currently offer 2 types of portfolios: a standard portfolio and a more creative or branding specific portfolio. (See below for pricing and inclusion). What is the difference?
A standard portfolio is your starting point, and should include all the basic looks, poses and styles that will be the first look of who you are. It is intended for new to the industry models that need that jumpstart into the business, as well as for the seasoned model who needs a clean, professional update. We will concentrate on coaching for mood, looks, expressions and poses.
A creative portfolio is for the more seasoned model. The session will be less focused on coaching and more on obtaining a desired look. From a faux commercial shoot for a specific brand, to something over the top where you are looking for one or two "bam" images to bring your portfolio over the top, we will work together to bring these concepts to life.
Before and During the shoot
Depending on the specific shoot, prep work may look a little different. For a standard portfolio, you will need to pick out waredrobe that is stylish, wrinkle free, stain free, and well fitting. We will shoot up to 3 looks for your portfolio, so three diverse outfits is appropriate. In addition to being stylish, they should be free of large logos and print, and more neutral toned. Additional outfits should be brought as backup. Hair, makeup and nails is also a must for the best look. Hair and Makeup can be provided at the studio for an additional cost. Ensure you have slept appropriately the night before, drank lots of water, and have eaten light but filling.
For the advanced portfolio, hair, makeup and wardrobe will likely be dependant on the shoot and will be discussed beforehand.
During the shoot, a parent (required if under 18 it is required), or guest may attend, but will be asked to wait in the waiting room next door to ensure one on one coaching is not interrupted. For a standard or beginning portfolio, I will provided unlimited coaching, posing and expression advice. We will work through various exercises to get the most out of the session and images.
